A dear friend and valued mentor of mine Mick Sobczak — someone who I enjoy seeing their status updates because of the wisdom I find within — recently shared the following, “Adults in today’s world play pretend more than children do.”
Unfortunately, I agree. I believe far too many of us are busy pretending for the sake of others, although with seemingly good intentions, at the expense of ourselves.
I get it… it’s tougher to be yourself in a world you’re constantly reminded of how you’re not par for the course. All the advertising around us is built on the foundation of our failures.
Ad: Do your sheets come out this white?
Me: No
But tough or not, you have best find the courage to be yourself anyway… it’s the only world we have.
“Be yourself, everyone else is taken.”
