2020 Rose Bowl Halftime Performance: “A Salute to Our Veterans”

To the Badger Band: The University of Wisconsin Marching Band,

I enjoyed the Armed Forces Salute during the Rose Bowl halftime performance. Now I understand what the “Fifth Quarter” is all about in Wisconsin. You make all who’ve ever been a part of a marching band proud.

Though you can never replace a band director like Mike Lectrone, but if this was a glimpse into what the new era has in store, it seems Dr. Corey Pompey is going to carry the torch forward.

I look forward to what y’all have in store for us in the coming days.

Mike Leckrone

Michael “Mike” Leckrone was the director of the University of Wisconsin Marching Band from 1969 to 2019. He is noted for his extraordinary ability to remember the names of all the past and present members of the band, as well as where they were from, and what instrument they played. Wikipedia
