Paul Stamets, glorious mushroom man of the moment, designed an incredibly thoughtful and strategic protocol that gets me very excited about the future potential of microdosing.
Aimed specifically at deepening and expanding the epigenetic neurogenesis effects of microdosing, Stamets “stacks” psilocybin with Lion’s Mane mushrooms because they share the capacity to repair neurological damage and create new neurons and neural pathways, and they help potentiate each other when combined. He also includes a small amount of niacin in the stack as it is a flushing agent that helps deliver the psilocybin and lion’s mane deeper into the system. Genius.
Since this protocol is particularly aimed at neurogenesis, the hope is that it can help facilitate deep and lasting change in those who use it. It also has exciting and much needed potential in the realms of anti-aging and treatment for diseases related to neurodegeneration like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. Since it suggests an even lower dose of psilocybin than other microdosing protocols— an amount that should be truly subperceptive— it’s an especially appealing protocol for those less familiar with psychedelic use.
